The park was renovated in early 2019 and is open to the public, albeit on a limited scale. It is open Monday through Sunday and charges a nominal $10 per vehicle for day use. Arkansas Bend Park also has a short-loop trail. The place also has a small park with a playground tucked into the bluff above the water. 

The park does not offer any equipment rental services. You can bring your own if you want to save some cash. There are a few glamping options including Living Waters. The glamping experience is a quaint and tranquil retreat. You will find several tents, safari tents, and eco-cabins. 

 

Arkansas Bend Park: The History

Located on the northern shores of Lake Travis, Arkansas Bend Park is a beautiful, off-the-beaten-path location in Austin’s Travis County. Visitors can enjoy many recreational activities, including swimming, fishing, hiking, and camping. 

The park was in disrepair before undergoing a significant refurbishment in 2019. Improvements include 18 campsites, two boat ramps, and a new day-use area. A small loop trail is also available. 

The park is open 24 hours for camping. Overnight campers should arrive by 9:00 pm. A limited number of campsites are available, but reservations are highly recommended. 

There are only a few restroom facilities on site. There is a gatehouse and maintenance barn. Guests must bring their firewood. Generators are permitted during the summer as long as there is enough firewood. 

Two open boat ramps are available in the lakeside recreation area known as Arkansas Bend Park. There are two boat ramps for public access to the lake. One has a courtesy dock and the other is equipped with an ADA ramp. Visitors can fish for catfish, white bass, and large-mouthed bass. There are also a few shaded picnic tables for visitors to enjoy.

The park was recently renovated and includes a playground, picnic areas, and campsites. There are three restrooms at the campground, and a ranger lives on site. The park is open from dawn to dusk and charges $10 per vehicle for day use. For overnight RV camping, the park charges $40.

It’s a long drive to get here, but the trip is well worth the effort. The park is three hours from Houston and 50 minutes from downtown Austin.
